The
owners of this home wanted a kitchen that would fit into their
existing and rather unique situation. The area needed lightening
up as it was rather dark and oppressive and as they like to entertain
they needed a kitchen that would cater for this as well.
The
solution was to use black granite for the benches, which tied
in with the black doors and trim throughout the house. African
Rosewood veneer was featured on the ends of the Island and also
to frame the integrated fridge and oven tower. This was used to
match closely with the timber ceilings that featured prominently
in the room. The cabinetry was lightened with a soft sand beige
colour and complimented with a lighter shade of tiles on the floor.
The
large island has plenty of storage on both sides and is a great
focal point in the room. An Induction hob was installed to solve
the problem previously frustrating the client - refilling gas
bottles for their gas hob (when they ran empty) as they didn’t
have access to piped gas. A warming drawer was put in under the
oven to keep those plates warm, which is great for entertaining!
